 WWII VETS OF THE WEEK*

 

T-3 EMIL ZEHNDER*

EMIL ZEHNDER, son of Mrs. Freida Zehnder, was born at Battle Creek, June 5, 1905. He served in the Army from October 13, 1942 to August 2, 1945. Emil served with the 517th Ordnance Company in Luzon New Guniea & the Philippines.

 

PVT 1st CLASS SAMUEL ZEHNDER*

SAM ZEHNDER, son of Mrs. Freida Zehnder, was born at Battle Creek, August 20, 1912. He attended the Terril School. Sam served in the Army with the 565th A.A.F. Battalion on the West Coast from Nov. 21, 1942 to Oct. 12, 1945.

 

RDM 3rd CLASS ERWIN E. BRIDSON*

ERWIN BRIDSON, son of Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Bridson, was born at Jackson, Minn., April 1, 1924. He graduated in Terril in 1942. Entered the Navy in Feb. 1943. Erwin was a radar operator in the Navy, his company was ARG-US 8-ARGUS 21-USS-LSM 350. He served from Feb. 18 1943 to Nov. 24, 1945. Overseas he served in the Pacific Theater.

 

MAM 2nd Class Stanley Nelson*

STANLEY NELSON son of Mrs. Christina Nelson was born near Milford May 3, 1926. He graduated from Terril High School in 1944 and enlisted in the Navy in April 1944. Stanley's outfit was the Fleet Post Office #926. He served from May 5, 1944 to Feb 27, 1946. Overseas he served in Guam.   

 

PHM 1st CLASS JAMES WELDON LEWIS*

JAMES WELDON LEWIS, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lewis, was born Nov. 20, 1920. He graduated at Terril in 1933 and entered the Navy in August 1942. Weldon was a medical corpsman in the Navy but was attached to the Marines. He served from Aug. 8, 1942 to Dec. 28, 1945. Overseas he served in the Asiatic and Pacific Theaters.

 

ERNEST BAEDKE, son of Mrs. Anna Baedke, was born Sept 7, 1926 at Terril. He graduated from Terril high school in 1944. He was inducted into the Army Jan. 25, 1945.

 

SEAMAN 1st CLASS DARIAL DETERMAN*

DARIAL DETERMAN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Determan, was born Aug. 29, 1923 near Terril. He graduated from Terril school in 1941. He entered the Navy in April, 1945. Darial’s outfit was U.S.S. LCI 661 F.P.O. San Francisco, Ca. He served from April 5, 1945 to July 9, 1946.

 

Allen Guy Eick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Eick, was born near Terril Feb 5, 1927. He graduated at Terril in 1945. He entered the Army in June 1945.

 

PVT. LESTER GLOVER

Lester Glover, son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Glover, was born Oct. 17, 1915. He graduated from Terril school in 1935. He entered the Army in August 1945. Les was in the Infantry while in the service but was not assigned to a company. He served from Aug. 10, 1945 to Nov. 15 1945.

 

PRIVATE 1st CLASS RAYMOND KRIEGER*??

Raymond Krieger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Krieger, was born Aug. 2, 1923. He graduated at Terril in 1941. He entered the Army in Feb. 1943. Raymond was a heavy machine gunner in the Army. Overseas he was in northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. This earned Raymond three Bronze Stars.

 

CAPTAIN LESLIE J. MOORE

Leslie J. Moore, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Moore, was born near Terril, Nov 17, 1919, He graduated at Terril in 1937 and entered the Army Sept. 4, 1942.

 

TEC 5 HAROLD W. SCHNELL*

Harold Schnell, son of Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Schnell of Rolfe, was born Oct. 12, 1925. He graduated at Terril in 1943. Harold served in the Army from Oct. 1944 to Aug. 1946. While in the Army Harold served in Europe as a reconnaissance jeep driver. Harold was awarded the European African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with One Bronze Battle Star.
